Celebrating Photography in Maine: Selections from the Bruce Brown Collection, Part II
November 6 through December 20, 2015
The Center for Maine Contemporary Art, in conjunction with the University of Maine Museum of Art, is presenting a two-part exhibition celebrating one of Maine’s most significant photography collectors. Bruce Brown began collecting photography in earnest in 2000. Since then, Brown’s passion for the discipline and its practitioners has resulted in an extensive collection of photographs taken by those residing in Maine and those inspired by its unique, creative sense of place. Fifteen pairs of photographs selected as a 'call and response' between the curators and collector will be featured at each venue. At CMCA, the selections include works by Jocelyn Lee, John Goodman, Rose Marasco, Scott Peterman, Cig Harvey and Brenton Hamilton, among others.
